Epic Games tasked us with reimagining the Creator experience in their launcher, from an engineer-led MVP to a multi-tool future vision.
The first few months of work were spent learning, researching, user testing, and iterating on how to build a better experience for Creators across Epic’s ecosystem. We then planned transformative updates and UX improvements across all touch points.
Upon loading the launcher, Unreal Engine users will be welcomed to a space that gives them what they need to jump back in or begin creating.
Creator Tool Hubs
We updated the navigation to match content relationships — pairing Versions with Plugins, and Projects with Assets and eliminated the confusion caused by having two spaces in the Launcher called Library.
Versions / Projects & Assets
Bringing Marketplace into the EGS codebase and aligning with the EGS design system will provide users with a UX improvement right away. In the future, this work will shorten the development cycle for new adding features and resolving bugs.
Marketplace
Users will be able to find creator tools in the Store alongside games via their own separate category as well as in their launcher Library.
